What is a Wellstrip?
A Wellstrip is a streetside garden that is created and maintained for the enjoyment and betterment of the community. A Wellstrip is beautiful to look upon; built for the purposes of decreasing rainwater runoff and providing for local needs such as enhancing food security. From promoting exercise and close-knit communities to creating a feast for the eyes and building habitat for beneficial insects and birds, a Wellstrip is a valuable asset.
Our Name:
A portmanteau of "wellness", that gardens create for viewers and volunteers alike, and "hellstrip", a common term for the patch of property running along the street which often has different care needs than nearby areas, and can be challenging to grow in.

When visiting a Wellstrip member garden please follow any posted site guidelines, including obeying local health and safety protocols. Our hosts and volunteers are doing a kindness for the communities we serve, we can honor that gift by respecting their wishes and dedication.
Additionally, the Wellstrip Gardening Community promotes and expects a non-judgmental and supportive attitude from all participants. Bigotry, hate speech and discrimination will not be tolerated.
